Our Story
Some love stories are instant. Others take their time—growing quietly, waiting patiently, and returning stronger than ever. This one? It’s the kind that proves love always knows where to find you.
Once Upon a Campus…
Deanna was full of energy and sunshine long before she ever stepped onto Norfolk State’s campus—but it was there that her star really began to rise. A Mass Communications major, campus leader, and voice of 91.1 Jazz, she was always in the mix—organizing, uplifting, connecting, and lighting up every room with her joy and purpose.
At one of those many events, she noticed him—tall, quiet, steady. Napoleon didn’t say much, but his presence said it all. Kind-hearted, grounded, and protective by nature, he had a calm about him that felt different. Familiar, even.
They vibed. They dated. But as life would have it, the timing wasn’t quite right. They went their separate ways—no hard feelings, just different paths.
Life in the Middle
Napoleon went on to serve nearly 30 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, living out his calling to protect and serve. His life’s work has always been about making others feel safe—something that still defines him today. After retiring, he transitioned into a new career in Safety, carrying his steady presence into a new chapter.
Deanna kept leading, building, loving, and living fully—always the one others could count on, even when it meant carrying a little more than her share. She’s always done life with her whole heart… and often, by herself.
And Then, Love Knocked Again
Over 30 years later, a quiet spark from the past found its way back—and this time, it didn’t fade. That old connection? Still there. But now, it came with wisdom, intention, and a deeper kind of love. The kind that listens. The kind that holds steady.
Today, Napoleon is still every bit the protector—but now, his strength makes room for Deanna to rest. For the first time in a long time, she doesn’t have to do life alone. She gets to breathe. To be loved out loud and held with care.
And the same can be said for Napoleon. Napoleon is finally able to let his guard down. With Deanna, he’s found something he didn’t always have—home. Not just in a physical sense, but in her. A place of refuge, comfort, and peace.
The Heart Never Forgets
Some love stories don’t need grand gestures or perfect timing. They just need two people who find their way back—with full hearts, open hands, and a whole lot of gratitude for the journey that brought them here.
Deanna and Napoleon are living proof that love doesn’t just reunite—it restores. And after all these years, they’re lighting up every room… together.
